To clarify, the solution was for the entire organization with offices across the world. Only one manager was bothered because he became responsible for executing.
Now, to be fair, the leave system was not for all staff (initially), only for contractors. Staff could report leave in an ERP system. Contractors could not do time reporting in the ERP system as they did not have an employee id. Funny enough, the system became so popular that in the end, it was used by staff as well, and then the system exported balances ;)
However, the organization had thousands of contractors, which is why not being able to report leave became a big issue for the audit.
